Exploring Embroidery

Having spent the first year of my degree studying embroidery I have a particular affinity for free motion embroidery and I love the detail and texture that thread can give a fabric.
Sometimes just a few simple lines of thread can completely transform a fabric.
I use a Bernina 1008 machine, an embroidery foot and an embroidery hoop to keep the fabric taught. I like to work with a range of threads of around 2 - 5 colours in each design, complementary to the print beneath it to create a layered, textured effect.
